Bernard's Dog Blog

Oh I Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside

I have been sobusy this blog has kind of taken a back seat. Bernard is eager to say hello.. This was our valentines day photo..

IMG_0401.JPGOver half term, we took him on his first holiday! We went to the North East – a place my family have loved forever. We found a dog friendly hotel in Bamburgh called the Victoria, it was reasonable prices and only an extra £7.50 for B to come – winner! The hotel is rightnear the beach so, of course, we spent all our time there!

Our main beach day was the Wednesday, and my friend came down from Edinburgh (she’s at uni there) to see us for the day! This is me, Joanna and B modelling the castle..

IMG_0070.JPGIt was a gorgeous day, just cold – but we can cope with that 😉

Anyway.. This was our journey..

IMG_0095.JPGFor me, this isn’t a lot of photos. And there’s a reason why. Brave yourselves.

You know those moments in life where you can see into the future and can just tellwhat is going to happen? Well…. Bernard was off his lead the entire walk to Seahouses (a small town 3 miles away) and he was fabulous! He didn’t jump up at any dogs or people for that matter, and came when we shouted him. Until he saw some seagulls..

He decided that he was going to try and fly. Of course, he didn’t succeed. He chased them off a ledge and jumped into the sea, a wave took him under and it was the longest5 seconds of my life. I was about to jump in after him when the little bugger came out looking slightly dazed but very pleased with himself.

We thought that was the end of it, but turns out swallowing sea water makes dogs so sick. He was sick in a cafe, and alllllll night in the hotel. It felt like we had a child! We had to leave at 5am the following day – partly for the hotels benefit but mainly because we just wanted to get him home. And of course once we were back, he was fine!!

But we are on speaking terms now and he is absolutely fine! Hope everyone else is okay! We will be on here more often!! S&B x

I have just made up a batch load of these little cute decorations and I wanted to share them with you all!!

IMG_9591.JPGHope you are all having a happy Thursday!!

OH HELLO STRANGER!!

How long has it been?! I have no idea, but it’s been TOO long!!

Hope you are all well. Bernard and I have SO much to tell you!!!!! (Excited face)

First things first, let’s catch up. I’m not 100% sure what my last post was so apologies if you have seen these photos before – actually, I’m not sorry, you can look at Bernard’s gorgeous face alllllll over again!!

IMG_8238.JPGSadly, B has had a rough few weeks with his skin. He was SO scratchy so ended up at the vets for some skin scrapes. He had to be sedated (£95 – ouch!) and after a week of waiting – the results said he was fine. Which is good news, but also really super annoying because I want to help him but don’t know how.

Since having the scrapes he seems to of cleared up a bit touch wood!!!! so we will just see how that goes!

We have been spending a lot of time in Wales recently, so here’s a few snowy photos 🙂

IMG_9193.JPGIt’s been back to reality this week back at work and I had a bit of a life changing moment (bear with me, it seems silly).

I was in a local shop and the girl that served me was someone I went to high school with. I haven’t seen her for what, 8 years?! And whilst I could tell her all about deal or no deal, Bernard and my degree, I felt like I needed something else. Something really exciting and unique that I have done with my life. I know travelling isn’t an option for me, Bernard can’t come and I’m a home bird so that’s that one out the window.

I thought about what it is I love to do – hand make things. I enjoy it, it makes people happy – why not do it then!! So basically, my friend has a shop and she is giving me some shelf space for a few months and see what happens!! Here are a few of the bits I’m selling..

Hello Friends!

IMG_8428.PNGNew Years Eve with my two gents

We are only a few days in, but so far 2015 has been amazing! Rob and I escaped to London for two days and had regular Bernard updates from my parents! He was so excited when he came to pick us up at Preston station, never seen a back side wiggle quite so much.

It’s back to normality tomorrow and I am absolutely dreading leaving B. He has just adjusted to us all being home for two weeks, and now we are leaving him again. Only for 3 hours at a time mind, but it’s still so sad. Plus, I am literally thinking up every excuse why not to go back to work tomorrow.

Speaking of which, I have had a crazy career change of mind. Tomorrow, I have a meeting at my old university to enquire about going back to do child mental health nursing…. So in the mean time, I have applied to Pets at Home to get some extra money to save up – they don’t let you have student loans twice. Boo hiss boo.

Anyway, that was a tangent. Here are some photos of B and us from over new year 🙂

IMG_8117.JPGBernard’s first experience of snow. We took him on a super long walk in an attempt to tire him out before our family party – it didn’t work

IMG_8160.JPGpre-party naps – he’s a good pillow 😉

IMG_8189.JPG

IMG_8201.JPGwe spent new year for the fourth year in a row with robs family. They have welcomed Bernard a lot considering they thought it was a daft idea is getting him – but we don’t hold any grudges 😉

IMG_8238.JPGwe spent New Years Day with my wonderful family

We hope you have had a fabulous new year. Now back to the drawing board with training B to walk nicely on a lead – any help would be welcomed greatly!

CHRISTMAS!!!!

So blogmas was a slight fail.. I think I managed two weeks worth, but life got in the way. The week leading up to Christmas was my dad’s birthday, my partners, his twin brothers (duh) and then mine! We have all had such a fabulous week, and we are only half way through half term woohoooo!

I have a shed load of photos to show you all! Bernard got absolutely ruined at Christmas, he actually got more parcels than my brother – oopsy! He’s been so good though, and the tree is still in one piece! Result!

I’m not sure if any of you guys remember his reindeer outfit we had bought him to wear on Christmas Day, but he actually out-grew it! So there was a last minute dash to Pets At Home to get him a new one..

IMG_7886-0.JPG
He has grown a fair bit! Haha. Whenever we put this outfit on him he immediately starts to sulk, to is usually bribed with lots of treats!

Christmas Day brought a lot of happiness, laughs and love to our household (even more than usual!) Bernard got a Barber jacket from my brother and his partner – wit woo Bernard! And he got pretty much the entire range of toys and food from Pets At Home! He LOVED unwrapping them all!

IMG_7939.JPG
I got the most BEAUTIFUL gift from my brother, an infinity bracelet with R for Rob and B for Bernard!

IMG_7941.JPG

IMG_7942-0.JPG
And what’s Christmas Day without a family selfie?! I’m so so happy how much everyone loves Bernard in our house. Whilst he is my dog, everyone adores him and it makes me very very happy. Here’s dad, brother, Bernard, mum and me..

IMG_7949-0.JPG
Considering my brother was once terrified of dogs because of a nasty bite from a strangers dog when he was little, he looks pretty happy to be with B now 🙂

IMG_7953.JPG
Bernard was so well behaved, he needed a few cat naps throughout the day as I think the excitement all got a bit too much!!

IMG_7960.JPG
Bless him! At night time, Rob came round with yet more presents for B. Bernard has been so so lucky this year, and has absolutely loved his first Christmas with us! Only 3 months left til his 1st birthday, so we best get planning something for that!

I hope you have had a magical Christmas, sharing it with the ones that mean the most in your lives (4 legged friends included). we are off to southport beach today – slightly mad but we will wrap up warm and play fetch on the sand! Enjoy the rest of the Christmas break all of you 🙂 lots of love from us xx

Blogmas day 14

So today wasn’t the kind of doggy day I had in mind, as I spent the entire day in bed poorly 😦 Bernard had a fab day though and went on two super long walks with my mum and dad.

IMG_7763.JPGAfter the good news at the vets about his nose, it has gone bad again.. I managed to get a photo of it his time hoorah!

IMG_7759.JPG
You can kind of see where all the hair is matted together because of the scabs, hence why the vet wanted to shave it off. He has yet another course of anti-bs so fingers crossed, hopefully this will sort him out!

I hope you have had a more successful weekend than me!! I can’t wait for this cold to go so that I can really start to enjoy the festive season!

Blogmas day 13

Massive apologies for the lateness of this post – had my first Christmas do with the new work lot. Early finish?! I hear you say.. Nope! We were out 4! So I’m more than happy to be home in my pjs snuggling B.

IMG_7697.JPG
I feel awful when I leave him for so long. Especially at weekends which is usually our time together! We have a full day tomorrow so will definitely make up for it 🙂 sorry for the rubbish post, will absolutely do fun things tomorrow to tell you all about! Goodnightttttt

Blogmas day 12

12 more days til Christmas Eve!!!!!! So excited. Had a fab day at work today, lots of Christmas activities and better yet – it’s Friday!

IMG_7626.PNG
And luckily, Bernard’s vet appointment went really well. He was very happy with his progress so didn’t need to stay in all day and he didn’t have his face shaved! Woooo yeah.

IMG_7602.JPG
Here he is snuggling up to a bag of wool haha!

It was Christmas jumper day today, and I forgot to show you all last night that my mum made me this fabulous creation..

IMG_7606.JPG
It went down a treat at work!

Also.. I am part of the UK Cockapoo Owners Group on Facebook and shared a photo of the sewn dog tree decoration and had a lot of interest in people buying them! I had never even considered this before but I’m starting to think about it for next Christmas. Any of you guys can be a trail runner for me if you want, see how you like them!

Anyway, I have a horrific cough coming along and need to get to bed – I know, what a saddo on a Friday night! Night all x

Blogmas day 11

Evening you lovely lot! I have had a very christmassy craft night and got quite a lot of decorations done..

First up are the Christmas trees. These were made with green felt, then I have hand sewn each button, bead and star on. They are all slightly padded too with a little tree hanger on the top.

IMG_7591.JPG
Then I did these little puddings..

IMG_7592.JPG
And finally, the one I think I am most proud of – a Bernard.

IMG_7593.JPG
I am super happy with them all, especially the Bernard one. No Christmas tree would be complete without it 🙂 here they all are together..

IMG_7589.JPG
And of course I have had my little sleepy helper whilst doing them all – which has been quite challenging whilst he has been having his mad moments, but majority of the time he has been fab!

IMG_7578.JPG
I hope you have enjoyed this Christmas blog post! Bernard has his face shave at the vets tomrorow – eek! Hopefully fingers crossed it will sort his face out though and be less itchy for him!
